General Properties

This steel has an economic balance of alloying elements to ensure its good cold formability, corrosion resistance, toughness and good mechanical properties without excessive work-hardening.
Its low carbon content improves its resistance to sensitization and intergranular attack, and the addition of nitrogen replaces the strength which would have been provided by the carbon.

Intergranular Composition
Alloys 304LN stainless has good resistance to atomosperic resistance. Like Type 304L, Alloy 304LN is resistant to wide variety if inorganic chemicals as well as nitric acid.
Alloy 304LN has good intergranular corrosion in the as-annealed and as-welded condition due to its low carbon content. Some intergranular attack may occur in the hot rolled unannealed condition.

Heat TreatmentThe annealing temperature range for Alloy 304LN is Heat to 1850/2050o F (1010/11210C) and rapidly quench in water or air. Typical hardness is Rockwell B 90/95.
